Instructors

As the nation's largest provider of concealed firearm training, Legal Heat offers you the opportunity to take classes from instructors who can be trusted to know and follow the laws associated with owning and using a firearm. Our instructors have excellent qualifications and they possess a variety of legal, professional, and practical skills that enhance the class experience. Classes are usually co-taught by two instructors to ensure that each student receives adequate personal attention.

Phil

In addition to handling guns all of his life, Phil is also an NRA certified pistol instructor, a Utah certified concealed firearm permit instructor, and the author of Legal Heat: 50 State Guide to Firearm Laws and Regulations. In the last 4 years Phil has instructed over 10,000 students in his concealed carry courses. While obtaining his undergraduate degree Phil worked as a professional hunting guide in Utah and Idaho, where he solo guided over 100 successful elk, deer, moose, and buffalo hunts. Phil is currently working as a City Prosecutor in Washington and is scheduled to graduate from the University of Idaho College of Law in May of 2012.

Jason

Jason is an attorney licensed in both Utah and Nebraska. He is also an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, NRA Certified Chief Range Safety Officer and Certified Utah Concealed Firearm Permit Instructor who has certified tens of thousands of students to obtain their permits. Jason has handled firearms all his life. In his free time, you'll find Jason hiking, hunting, and cheering for BYU. He decided to become a Concealed Firearms Permit Instructor because he believes that his legal training and experience can provide his students with unique insight into the laws surrounding firearm ownership and use.

Kevin

Kevin is an NRA Certified Instructor, Certified Utah Concealed Firearm Instructor and avid sportsman. Professionally, Kevin is an Aerospace Executive in the military defense industry, working for one of the nation's largest defense contractors. Outside of work, Kevin spends his time serving in the community, tending to his cattle and enjoying the company of his family. Kevin is a self-proclaimed "old man who is suffering from advanced stages of post traumatic bitterness syndrome."

Russell

Russell graduated from Creighton University School of Law and lives and works in Omaha, Nebraska. He is a lifelong hunter and outdoorsman. Russell loves his wife, daughter, religion, truck, college football, the Yankees, his guns, and root beer. He firmly believes that if anyone has a problem with his love of any of the aforementioned things, he is undeniably un-American. Since Russell also loves America, the opinion of someone who is un-American means very little to him.

Bryan

Bryan is currently a law student at the University of Idaho College of Law. He is a certified NRA Pistol Instructor, Certified Utah Concealed Firearm Instructor, and has handled guns his entire life. Bryan has spent time working for a US Senator, and for the past five years he has fought forest fires throughout the west on a U.S. Forest Service helitack crew. He has been an avid hunter since the age of 12, and he enjoys running marathons and spending time with his wife, Sara.
